I am here to tell you what a wonderful time we had at our annual Library Open House in October.

Guest Author, Darlene Quinn captivated our audience of 325 patrons with a conversation from her heart . Sharing a little about her life and a lot about how and why she started writing her page turning “Webs of Power” trilogy. She was accompanied by her handsome husband Jack!. He also contributed by supplying us with wonderful earring that he made from the picture on her book jacket. The first 25 guests received a pair. Just last week one of our patrons came to our Library counter wearing the earrings. We here at the Braille Institute Library will never forget Darlene’s kindness and passion she showed for writing.

We salute you and all that you do!

“Darlene Quinn is an amazing woman in so many ways – she’s a successful businesswoman, an incredible author, a talented media spokesperson and public speaker. I have a lot of respect and admiration for Darlene and all of her accomplishments! Everyone in my company enjoys working with her in the promotion of her book and she’s become a dear friend.”

The Signal Hill Public Library was fortunate to host Darlene Quinn at our January 18, 2012 “Nite at the Library” event.    Darlene discussed her fascinating series of books on the politics and intrigue of the retail industry:  Webs of Power, Twisted Webs, and Webs of Fate.  She has also co-written a novel Sizzling Cold Case with Buddy Epson.

Darlene is a captivating speaker who draws one into the world of the retail industry since the days of Bullocks and May Company to the present.  She explains that truth really is stranger than fiction, and how she had to “tone down” her exciting books so they would be believable.  Darlene is a dynamic speaker.  She is charming, engaging, and well-spoken.   I highly recommend her for your event.

On Saturday, March 10, 2012, the In Print Professional Writer’s Group was honored to share time with Darlene Quinn. It was awesome! She shared her writing experiences, some of her life, and her witty, plus gracious, personality. She is the very talented author of the “Webs” series: Webs of Power, Twisted Webs, and her most recent Webs of Fate. Darlene is a wonderful speaker and the members enjoyed her expertise and invaluable knowledge. Anytime you are in the Chicago area, Darlene, please let us know as we would love to see you again.

“Darlene Quinn is as impressive on live radio is she is on paper. Her work as a writer should be a template for every struggling independent writer today. She knows how to build an audience and keep shaking the marketing bushes to grow her readership. On top of everything else… she’s got a ton of prestigious indie awards to prove she’s a really good writer, too.”

Quinn Barrett, Writer, Author, and Editor

Darlene Quinn began her presentation to our professional writers organization, In Print, by stating that “the only way not to be published is to give up” and continued her talk with inspiring insights into a published author’s world. She emphasized that books should educate, enlighten, and entertain and described her own novels as “factions:” character driven novels based on true events with page turning suspense. Darlene also discussed the importance of social media for marketing purposes, particularly websites, blogs, and Facebook. Her presentation, like her books, was educational, enlightening and entertaining.

Kristin Oakley, President of In Print

“Darlene is an accomplished author but is also sought after as a media commentator appearing on several national and local TV and radio shows. She is well known in the Fiction and Creative writing genre as a speaker and has spoken at the Southern California Writers Association, the Southern California Writers Conference and the California Writers Club (workshops and read & critique classes), the Long Beach Yacht Club, numerous libraries and book clubs.

I have attended Darlene’s class and events. One of her most requested classes is “What I Wish I’d Known Before Becoming A Published Author”, which I highly recommend to any aspiring author.

If you are looking for a skilled speaker for writer’s workshops, an expert commentator, an author for your book club, library, or writers club, I highly recommend Darlene Quinn for your next event.”

Darlene Quinn is the writer most of us aspire to be—professional, successful, talented and wonderfully personable. She addressed our writer’s group with grace and humor, sharing personal tales of how she became a multi-published author. She touched on everything from her writing habits to book jacket designs to self-promotion. Her wealth of knowledge and personal experience is invaluable.
